Liberal MP Jody Wilson-Raybould on Friday morning said she will submit a written statement to the justice committee aiming to “clarify” her own words and respond to statements made by witnesses who spoke after her Feb. 27 testimony.
Breakdown: JWR’s statement comes a day after ally MP Jane Philpott told the Globe and Mail that there is “more to the story” around the SNC-Lavalin affair.
- Conservatives blasted the Liberals for not allowing JWR to return to committee. They protested via a 30-hour parliament session.
- Environment Minister Catherine McKenna says she’s not sure about the motivations are of JWR and Philpott, but if there are concerns and there is something to be said, it should be said now, she told media.
Media: Here is the statement she sent out.
Election: This appears to give the Tories a win as it plays into the “cover up” narrative they have accused the Liberals of.
- This could keep the SNC-Lavalin affair on the front page of the news cycle, even as the Trudeau administration tries to promote budget 2019.
