Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, emergency services arrived on the quiet suburban Belcourt Cr. off Elmira Rd. in the west end of Guelph to a report of a home invasion where two men allegedly broke in and stop $1,000 in cash.
Witnesses told The Guelph Post police spent at least an hour in search of the thieves with SWAT and canine units on-scene at the residence between nine and 12 Belcourt Cr., a road situated by West Acres Dr. down the road from Costco.
The homeowner was treated at Guelph General Hospital for minor injuries.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers, police said in their daily press release.
Police also received five reports of theft from cars on Pacific Pl. Callege Ave. West, Periwinkle Way, Municipal St. and Norfolk St. on Saturday/
Five tickets were issued on Wellington St. West on Saturday while police carried out speed enforcement between 7:15 pm. and 8:50 p.m. on Saturday evening.
Police usually release an image on Sunday’s of a suspect they seek more information on. This week’s suspect is in regard to an incident that occurred on April 6 at 7:30 a.m. at the University of Guelph.
