Police on Wednesday carried out a traffic stop on Arthur St. after officers saw a man inside a car that was wanted on a warrant — the pair was investigated and then promptly arrested, a press release said on Thursday.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on a warrant for robbery, mischief under and attempt B+E. A small quantity of crystal meth was also discovered on him and he was further charged with possess a controlled substance.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The second man, age 38, was was found to be in possession of brass knuckles as well as a small quantity of cocaine. He was charged with possess a controlled substance and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He will appear in court on July 9, the police statement added.

Guelph Police went to a Louisa St. residence for the report of a break and enter.  Sometime during the day, the garage was broken into and a set of rims, tires, tools and alcohol were stolen. Anyone with information are asked to contact police.

Early on Thursday morning, shortly after 1 a.m., police went to a Vipond St. residence for the report of a break and enter. Video surveillance on a large trailer parked behind the residence showed an individual breaking into it.

The suspect was gone on police arrival and it is unknown if a theft occurred. Those with related information are asked to contact police.
