The Guelph Storm — Ontario Hockey League champions — clinched a spot in the semifinal of the national Memorial Cup after a 5-2 win Tuesday night over the Prince Albert Raiders.
This is how it works out according to GuelphToday’s Tony Saxon: If Guelph beats Prince Alberts they are guaranteed a spot in the semifinal with the possibility of a trip straight to the final dependent on Wednesday’s game.
If the OHL champions lose than they may have to play in a tie-breaker on Thursday, again dependent on what happens on Wednesday between Rouyn-Noranda and Halifax.
|Halifax||2 – 0|
|Guelph||2 – 1|
|Rouyn-Noranda||1 – 1|
|Prince Albert||0 – 3|
Star Storm forward MacKenzie Entwistle told GuelphToday that the tournament has yet to see the best version of the Guelph team. However, the team is prepared to hit the ice strong when the puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
