GUELPH — This will be a busy week politically, with the selection of the People’s Party of Canada candidate for the fall, a meet-and-greet with Green candidate Steve Dyck and then next week is the regular monthly meetup for the federal Liberals.

The following events are described in chronological order.

Dyck is holding “Coffee with Steve” at the Common Cafe on Wilson St. by City Hall at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning and this is being repeated at the same time every week until at least the end of May.

A day later on Friday night, Dyck is hosting a campaign launch party at 92 Macdonell St. in downtown Guelph, encouraging people to come for “live music, food, dancing” and speeches from himself, the Green candidate for Halton Hills and MPP Mike Schriener.

The People’s Party of Canada will be selecting their candidate come Saturday at the Victoria Road Recreation Centre on the east end of the city, with two nominees — Mark Paralovos and Matthew Dobbin — vying for the Guelph riding candidacy.

The Guelph Federal Liberals Association, or GFLA, will meet at the Green Room downtown on May 16 for an evening of “stimulating chatter, engaging banter, and friendly connections”, as they “continue preparations for the next election.

The New Democrats have been busy as well. They held  what they dubbed a successful event last Saturday at the downtown Planet Bean to sign new people up and have members renew membership dues ahead of the October federal election.
