The Ingersoll Pipe Band thundered through downtown and up Carden St. marking 75 years since D-Day, ahead of a ceremony hosted by the Orange Lodge.

MP Lloyd Longfield, MPP Mike Schreiner and Mayor Cam Guthrie, as well as dignitaries from surrounding counties, spoke on the significance of the June 6 D-Day landing, during which Canada had a major role to play.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau marked the date in France earlier this week with a large ceremony on Juno Beach where Canadian troops landed to launch the liberation of Europe in sync with United States and British forces.
