Everyone is welcome to the Guelph Multifaith Group’s third annual Sports Social on Sunday afternoon in a “very informal” softball tournament being held in Margaret Greene Park’s diamond four in the west end of the city.

Two years ago, the group held a road hockey tournament in the Dublin Street United Church parking lot to mark Canada’s 150th birthday. The event’s success let to a soccer tournament the following year marking World Cup.

Both those years and the event being held this year is “just an opportunity to socialize and have fun” organizer Rich Turner told The Post on Wednesday, adding that no one will be turned away regardless of religion or spirituality.

“It’s up to each person to socialize as much as they wish. And play or not play,” Turner added. In the press release, organizers said that there are no teams and “the event is all about fun.”

It will run from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., and the Weather Network is calling at this point for some overcast but no rain.

Those attending are asked to bring their own refreshments and some extra to share if possible. Anyone seeking further information are asked to email Turner.
