Residents can ride Guelph Transit for free on Wednesday for Clean Air Day — with officials saying that “good air quality is important to our health, our environment and the economy.”
“By taking the bus and not your car, you’ll reduce greenhouse gas emissions by almost two thirds,” staff wrote in a press release on Sunday — encouraging residents to take advantage of free transit on June 5.
“In fact, one city bus can take 40 vehicles off the road, save 70,000 litres of fuel and keep 168 tonnes of pollutants out of the atmosphere each year.”
Wednesday evening is also the Future of Transportation in Guelph panel discussion, and the city encourages residents to choose one of the 10 routes that go by the Delta Guelph Hotel and Conference Centre.
Panelists will discuss “disruptive technologies, urban development and climate change are shaping how we’ll move tomorrow”, and residents will be encouraged to share their thoughts on the future of transportation in Guelph.
