A man who was on conditions not to be in the company of a female was spotted by a police bike patrol beside the woman downtown on Saturday, Guelph Police said Sunday.

The 20-year-old man was known to police and was not supposed to be near the female due to “a domestic related incident”, police said in a press release. He was arrested for failing to comply.

A search revealed that the male was in possession of a collapsible metal baton and a small amount of crystal meth. He was also charged with carry concealed weapon, possession of a controlled substance, and breach probation and held for bail.

Separately, an Oshawa woman was arrested for impaired driving downtown Guelph by a ride program set up at 1 a.m. on Wyndham St. South.

A vehicle was observed leaving the downtown area at “a high rate of speed” before coming to an abrupt stop to speak with Guelph Police officers.

The 22-year-old’s arrest came after she failed a roadside test. The woman was released on a promise-to-appear.
