July 1 is on a Monday this year — giving Canadians a true Canada Day long weekend for the first time in several years — and Guelph has several events on the go and business special hours to watch out for.
There will be a two-day celebration for Canada Day run by the Rotary Club at Riverside Park, starting at 12 p.m. June 30 to 10 p.m. on July 1.
All LCBO and Beer Store locations are closed as they are government employers, however, several local breweries such as Brothers Brewing downtown will be open.
When it comes to Guelph Transit, buses will be running on a special statutory holiday schedule from 9:15 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A free fireworks shuttle will run from 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. from Riverside Park. The transit mobility service has been extended an hour past midnight.
Lyon Leisure Pool will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., wading pools from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and splash pads from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Market Square’s wading pool will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
