Drivers on Gordon Street will soon see a billboard promoting the preservation of water in opposition of Nestlé, local advocacy group Wellington Water Watchers said on Friday.
The billboard is part of a new campaign to oppose an expected application by the international corporation to continue taking water from springs in Aberfoyle.
The sign will go up just south of the Pergola Commons movie theatre plaza at 2162 Gordon St. — and the public is invited for the inauguration at 11:30 a.m. on Monday.
WWW is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2007 primarily run by volunteers citizens from Guelph-Wellington “committed to the protection of local water and educating the public about threats to the watershed.”
Nestlé has been operating out of Aberfoyle without a permit for just shy of three years.
