Guelph is receiving the city’s first heat warning of 2019 from Environment Canada — along with parts of Wellington County and Milton.

By the afternoon, residents are projected to experience highs around 30 degrees Celsius, with the humidex hovering around 40 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures will drop overnight to around 20 degrees Celsius, when it will be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers and risk of a thunderstorm.

The warning is due to Environment Canada expecting two or more days in a row of temperatures hitting higher than 31 C during the day and hotter than 21 C overnight.
