A man hit last month by a van while crossing a street in Downtown Guelph has succumbed to his injuries.
The incident occurred at 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 3, at the corners of Macdonell and Wellington.
A 55-year-old man was hit by the vehicle being driven by a 61-year-old man as he crossed the road from Macdonell’s south side to the north side, just south of the River Run Centre. The vehicle was on Wellington Street, headed eastbound.
Guelph Police Service Inspector Andrea Ninacs reported that the pedestrian has passed away and the investigation is still ongoing.
After the collision, police reported that the pedestrian had “very serious injuries” and was rushed to Guelph General before he was moved to Hamilton General Hospital. The victim’s name has yet to be released to the public.
