Today is Family Day in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick and Saskatchewan.  As a stautory holiday, many businesses around Guelph will either be closed, or have alternative hours.  Here’s a look at what’s open, closed, and events around the city today:


  • The Guelph Civic Museum will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Market Square ice rink in front of city hall will be open to skaters 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.

Both Victoria Road and West End Recreation Centre will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for some special Family Day programming

 Centennial Arena ill be open for private rentals only from 10a.m. to 4p.m.  The Market Fresh grocery store will also be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m in case you forget to pick up groceries, and if you need a getaway from family,  Wellington Brewery will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, Royal City Brewing from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Fixed Gear Brewing from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Guelph Transit will be running on a holiday 
schedule with rides staggered to ever 60-minutes from 9:15 to 6:45 in the evening.  Mobility services will be running, but the dispatch will be closed.  Click here for a more detailed schedule
