A numbered company, 2448254 Ontario Inc, has applied for a variance to allow a retail cannabis store on 739 Woolwich Street, a space currently home to Fleuristic Garden and Flower Studio.
The proposal requests structural changes to the building for both aesthetic reasons and to comply with the current provincial guidelines for cannabis retailers.
We are proposing to open a cannabis retail store at the subject property in accordance with the Ontario Cannabis Act…
The subject property is in one of the City of Guelph’s approved areas (confirmed by David Wiedrick, Manager Bylaw Compliance, Security and Licensing, Operations Department, City of Guelph) but is not currently zoned for the required use as shown above.
The current building is 206 square meters and the property itself is 2,385 square meters. A separate greenhouse that currently sits on the property is set to be removed.
The application was filed on January 22nd of this year.
The proposed store is next to a lot that is currently set to open as The Centre for Children’s Developmental & Mental Health Services in 2021. The proposal is seeking a variance with the Committee of Adjustment, as the currently zoned space does not allow for “retail cannabis sales of cannabis and related supplies”. The application will be heard March 12 at the Committee of Adjustment meeting.
